Musharraf Denies He Is Stepping Down

The spokesperson of White House said,’’ President Bush has assured the consistent support of President Pervez Musharraf with a phone call to him on Friday.’’ A Pakistani newspaper told that Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the chief of army staff has forced Mr. Musharraf to resign from his post. But at an official dinner party, he was impelled to refuse the speculation about his departure.

Simulatenously, Pakistani military asserted that General Kayani had removed a loyaltist to Musharraf from one of army’s most important post. The sudden twist included the leader of Triple-One Brigade who has the responsibilty for safeguarding President and Islamabad.

The army exlained the appointment of Brig. Faheem Rao to the Triple-One Brigade as “regular,” Brig. Aasim Salim Bajwa’s removal was speculated by General Kayani to weaken Mr. Musharraf.

Arsenal`s Croatian striker Eduardo Da Silva, who suffered a horrific leg break earlier this year, now doctor’s said, he is fit to return to action in August.

Eduardo suffered from a compound fracture of the left leg following a tackle from Birmingham defender Martin Taylor at St Andrews in February.

Da Silva said to Sportske Vovosti, I am returning to Europe from Brazil in the beginning of August, or may be end of July. Doctors tell me that I am fully recovered and able to play football. “I’m feeling well and my rehabilitation is going better than I would ever have hoped.”

People of Iraq rally against US troop

Thousands of people heeded a call from anti-American cleric Moqtada al-Sadr to protest talks between Washington and Baghdad on keeping US troops in Iraq beyond 2008, but turnout on Friday was lower than past marches.

Its one of the largest demonstrations, several thousands of people are on streets in the Baghdad district of Sadr City and they held up pictures of Prime Minister dressed as Saddam Hussein

In the kadhimiya district in the northwest Baghdad, people marched behind a banner asking the UN to stand with the Iraqis people against this security deal between the government and the occupation.

TACA Airbus A-320 crash at Honduras airport

Rescue personnel said, Central America’s TACA airlines slid across a runway and onto a road as it tired to land in Tegucigalpa airport. He said, 5 people were killed and 65 were injured on Friday plane crash.

The plane was an Airbus A-320. 124 passengers plus crew was flying from Los Angeles-San Salvador-Tegucigalpa route. The plane skidded off the runway, crashed down a 20-meter (66-foot) embankment, plowed across a road and broke into three pieces, TACA officials said.

TACA manager Armando Funess could not give full figure about the passengers who are traveling, but he told to media that the plane was totally destroyed and all the passengers were being taken to hospital.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) urged countries to increase their agriculture to handle world food crisis.

World governments should urgently introducing and apply public policies like enlarging the growing crops area to boost grain production and distribution of food protect and help the most needed countries and their population.

FAO made the appeal days before the High Level Conference on Food Security due to be held in Rome. FAO said the current food crisis can be addressed from three perspectives.

US oil probe focusing on price manipulation

On Friday the Wall Street Journal reported ,’’ A US regulatory probe into oil trading and is stressing on short-term maangement of benchmark crude prices and the use of information linked to essential oil storage tanks to influence prices.’

The newspaper has quoted that people are aware of enforcement priorities of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and said that the CFTC is doing many oil investigations and most of those are related to one another.

‘’It would improve the insepection of energy trading by tracking index funds and had an agreement with the U.K.’s Financial Services Authority and ICE Futures Europe for exchanging information on power contracts’’, said the US futures market regulator.

Two Indians getting special award from WHO for their contribution to the control of tobacco consumption. One is doctor and other is a health activist

Both are Mumbai based and both of them have been given the Director-General’s Special Recognition Certificate. Shastri is the head of the department of preventive oncology at Mumbai Tata Memorial Hospital and another one is Ramakant is the member of National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM), it’s a non profit organization working against tobacco use.

Last year, Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss was the recipient of this award. Tobacco is one of the major reasons of deaths worldwide and millions of people die due to tobacco related disease like cancer, and cardiovascular problems. A report said 100 million Indians smoke unfiltered cigarettes.

Tendulkar not playing in Tri-series and Asia Cup

Sachin Tendulkar is not going for tri-series in Bangladesh (June 8-14) due to groin pain and also the Asia Cup in Pakistan (June 24 – July 6), and also Zaheer Khan, Murali Kartik due of injuries.

Indian Team Selectors meet here on Friday to pick the team for the tri-series and the Asia Cup. Tendulkar dropped for two series said Niranjan Shah, Secretary, BCCI.

Tendulkar, captain of the Mumbai Indians Teams in the DLF-IPL, he was not playing first seven matches and rest of seven matches he made just 188 runs.

Japan not to send aid to China

Japan has decided not to send military aircraft to deliver aid to Chinese earthquake survivors.

Nobutaka Machemura top government spokesman said, Japan send commercial flight to fly across tents, medicines and other relief supplies. They said, currently they have no plan to use aircraft to the Self-Defence force and use of Japanese military planes.
