Museum of London archaeologists said that they have found the remains of what might be one of the city’s earliest theatres and the place where William Shakespeare’s plays were first performed.

It was called simply “The Theatre” and was an open-air playhouse where the Bard first acted and then had his own writings put on stage.

According to him, the Theatre opened in 1576 but there was a tenancy dispute and the venue was dismantled and rebuilt south of the River Thames in 1599 as the more famous theatre, The Globe.

The Globe has since been rebuilt and was reopened in 1997.

book1.jpg FROM THE BOOK COVER

Like many people in America and around the world, Talal Asad experienced the events of September 11, 2001, largely through the media and the emotional response of others. For many non-Muslims, ‘the suicide bomber’ quickly became the icon of ‘an Islamic culture of death’—a conceptual leap that struck Asad as problematic. Is there a ‘religiously motivated terrorism’?
