Palm has released their Treo Pro. It’s a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device with a touchscreen and UMTS/HSDPA GSM networking. The phone also includes G.P.S. and improved WiFi handling for better and easier WiFi hand-off.
The new Treo is thinner than devices like the 800w and is targeted at the mobile professional market and is not an “iPhone-killer.”
Instead it is part of a conscious strategy by Palm to release a series of “great” products in order to bring themselves back out of the doldrums.

Boost of cellphone sales on 2007
Filed Under Communication | Posted By Jennifer Sullivan | 1 Comment
According to a recently published research made by Gartner, during 2007 there were more than one billion cellphones sold in the entire world. A pretty high number, which equals to a raise of 16% when compared to the previous year of 2006.
One of the main reasons for the number of cellphones purchased, is related to population in “developing countries“ that got their first mobile phone
.
But on the other hand, the already “developed countries†also helped the 16% rise, because many consumers are always changing phones to buy new ones that have better features - like GPS, and WiFi - or simply due to the better quality in terms of design.
As for the companies that sold more cell phones, Nokia is still on top, with 435 million units sold during 2007. The rest - LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson - gained market share, while Motorola lost it.
Yahoo in trouble?
It is not the first time Yahoo gets in trouble with the Chinese government, because of “sharing†private information that led to other people going to jail.
This time, a few Chinese personas got together and sued Yahoo. Basically, the victims are “claiming they were harmed because of Yahoo’s cooperation with the Chinese government.“ Some even went to jail, others that were living on the US are afraid to go back to China.
Examples of Chinese people getting arrested/got harmed because of their activity on the internet:
- Li Zhi was sentenced to 8 years in jail, but was inside the “joint†for 4 years.
- Plaintiff Zheng Cunzhu was iving on the US and lost his house in China.
