Google seeks patent on networking site

World’s most popular Internet search site Google has filed for a patent application in the country for its current introduced social network site founded on user preferences and format performance data.
The US-headquartered organization has filed a patent application before the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, following which the authorities have granted a public notice in its journal.
In its filed application, Google has quoted that a user network site could be built on account of people’s preferences and format performance data depicting a website could be formed due to some private information that would be supportive in several ways. Continue reading…

Latest Breaking News: Big Bang website hacked

The Big Bang experiment has gone through a security violation a few days back when Greek hackers introduced an assault on Large Hadron Collider project just before it was to start. While the first elements were waving in the 27-km long machine near Geneva, the group hacked into the website. Elevating severe concerns over the safety and preparation of the ‘mother of all experiments’.
Recognizing themselves as Greek Security Team, they scorned at the technology and known the physicists as “a group of school kids.” The hackers, though, in spite of blinking the message “doesn’t chaos with us”, also repeated that they have no purpose to disturb the experiment.

Google buys Korean blogging software developer Tatter and Company

The two companies said that Google Inc has bought Korean blogging software developer Tatter and Company.
The companies did not disclose how much Google paid for the acquisition.
Chang-Won Kim Tatter co-chief executive said that the deal on his personal blog in an entry titled “We’ve been Googled!”, saying that the acquisition would help Google increase its market share in the country. Continue reading…

Wikipedia under fire for showing pornographic images and videos

Wikipedia the biggest multilingual free-content encyclopaedia on the Internet allowing pornographic images and videos in its articles.
Some of the sites own editors have confessed that the objected content is ‘dressed-up porn’.
According to child protection campaigners, children are using Wikipedia, instead of dictionaries, for looking up dirty words can expose children to images and videos of masturbation, “hardcore” sex and orgies.
One entry on the site shows an 18-second video of a man ejaculating, and that too, without any warnings or age verification.

Google to release open-source ‘chrome’ browser

Are Internet Explorer and Firefox ready to fight with Chrome?
Google disclosed that it has been struggling hard on an open-source browser called as Chrome, a beta version which soon going to be introduced in 100 countries. New features will be developed “isolated” tabs designed to prevent browser crashes and a great JavaScript engine.
“Why are we introducing Google Chrome? Because we think that we can supplement value for users and simultaneously make modernization on the web,” Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management, and Linus Upson, Google engineering director, wrote in a blog. Google was clearly looking to maintain news of Chrome close till the holiday weekend. A 38-page, online comic book that offered information about Chrome hit the blogosphere but Pichai and Upson said that Google had “hit ’send’ a little precisely” on the web comic.

Dell launched new PCs targeting emerging markets

Dell Inc launched four low-cost computer models. India and other emerging economies in a new bid to tap the potential of high-growth markets outside the US.
Steve Felice, the US computer maker’s president said that the two notebook and two desktop PCs are the first Dell models designed especially for emerging markets. They are meant for small business users and are to be sold in 20 countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Strong sales in Asia helped Dell turn in better-than-expected results in the first quarter despite a slowing US economy. It is due to report its latest quarterly results Friday, and analysts are watching whether it can maintain its growth pace.

Yahoo will introduce new services that let users broadcast their location

Yahoo executive Tom Coates recently visited England and met with more than 100 friends who were accidentally in Old Blighty as well. Coates got them praised to Fire Eagle which is a new database service introduced by Yahoo.
Fire Eagle picks up real-world location information the way Web crawlers ingest Web pages and distributes it to whatever services an individual chooses. It is an open place hat will connect data providers with application maker’s world wide.

Facebook: World’s Top Social Networking Site

According to new figures from web tracking organization ComScore, Facebook has left behind MySpace to become the most popular social networking site worldwide with 132 million different visitors in June.
The study also revealed that the popular Facebook’s visitor growth has speed up as that of MySpace, with Facebook visits increase 153% on an annual basis as compared to just 3% growth for MySpace. The other social networks displaying powerful global growth such as Hi5 (100%) Friendster (50%), Orkut (41%) and Bebo (32%).

Google solved Gmail access problems

Google Inc said that they solved an issue with its contacts system that caused many users of its Gmail service to have trouble accessing their online e-mail.
The problems began at about 5 p.m. EDT and an announcement on the company’s Gmail “Help Center” site said the issue is now resolved.
Google said an outage in the contacts system used by Gmail prevented the e-mail system from loading properly. Google also said that there may be minor delays in deliveries even though all mail is safe.

Google Gmail users have trouble accessing accounts

Google Inc said that many users of its Gmail service are having trouble accessing their online e-mail accounts due to a temporary outage in a contacts system used by Gmail.
They said that the problems began at about 2100 GMT and a company spokesman said Google is starting to implement a fix for the problem right now.
Google spokesman said, “We are starting to roll out a fix now and hope to have the problem resolved as quickly as possible,”
