Obama plans Blair talks in London

Barack Obama has added a meeting with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to his programme in London on Saturday.
A senior advisor said that Obama will meet Blair in the ex-premier’s capacity as International Middle East peace envoy, but is also keen to tap his ideas on climate and energy issues.
The talks will take place ahead of Obama’s meeting with current British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and opposition Conservative Party leader David Cameron, which will end his week-long international campaign swing.

Bill Clinton willing to campaign for Barack Obama

Former president Bill Clinton has said he was willing to campaign for White House hopeful. Barack Obama, who defeated his wife Hillary in a sometimes bitter Democratic nomination race.
Asked by reporters if he would campaign for Obama, who aims to become America’s first black president, Clinton said: “Whenever he asks.”
He said, “He’s busier than I am on politics anyway,”
Clinton said that he had a “good talk” with Obama following the marathon nomination battle, during which the former two-term president jousted repeatedly with the Illinois senator’s campaign.

Mccain praises rival before pro-Obama crowd

U.S. Republican presidential hopeful John McCain appreciated Democratic opposition Barack Obama before a meeting attended by pro-Obama folks. He was giving speech at the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, Cincinnati, Ohio.
The various NAACP members are African-Americans, who are giving maximum support to Obama, an African-American. President George W. Bush has just got 11 percent of the black vote.
McCain stated, “Don’t tell him about my wordings, but he is an amazing fellow in various manner. He has influenced several Americans and some of them had wrongly thought that a political campaign could be of no use to them.

Top diplomat will attend talks in Switzerland on Saturday, official says

In a break with past Bush administration policy, a top U.S. diplomat will for the first time join colleagues from other world powers at a meeting with Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator,
America’s third highest ranking diplomat William Burns will attend talks with the Iranian envoy, Saeed Jalili, in Switzerland. Their main aim is to persuading Iran to halt activities that could lead to the development of atomic weapons.
Official contacts between Iran and the United States are extremely rare and although Washington is part of a six-nation effort to get Iran to stop enriching and reprocessing uranium, the administration has shunned contacts with Tehran on the matter.

Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton plan to campaign together Friday. Their first joint appearance meant to ease tensions over the closely fought Democratic primary.
The location is New Hampshire town of Unity announced Monday, was chosen not only for the symbolism of its name, but because each candidate received exactly 107 votes. New Hampshire is a critical battleground state in the November election.
Republican John McCain won the state’s primary in his unsuccessful 2000 presidential bid and prevailed again this year.

Democrat Barack Obama increased USD 22 million in May for his presidential campaign, and ended the month with USD 43 million cash, whereas the former opposition Hillary Rodham Clinton has lots of debts.
Details of the candidates` May fundraising, filed in reports to the Federal Election Commission, came a day after Obama released he would become the first major party candidate to refrain public money in the General Election. McCain said that he would not deny the public funds, which will stop him to spend about USD 85 million from September until Election Day in November.

Today, McCain — a unique presidential candidate in a political environment ruled by the nation’s economic grief— seemingly has a slight choice but to criticize Obama the similar way.
Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor and top McCain surrogate, ‘Democrats, led by Barack Obama want to return to a pre-September 11th view of terrorism.’
Obama blamed McCain of ‘fear-mongering’ and said he is also consistently using the Bush-Cheney political playbook that is based on fear.

President Bush praise Brown

George Bush appreciated PM Gordon Brown as he said that Britain would increase sanction against Iranian banks and send 230 extra troops to southern Afghanistan and keep British troops in southern Iraq till the Iraqi security forces rectified a withdrawal.

The world wants Obama as Prez

If the rest of the world had a say in electing the American president, Democratic nominee Barack Obama would already be sitting in the White House, a new poll of 24,717 people across 27 countries suggests.
Obama, who is streets ahead of Republican candidate John McCain in Europe, also has Indians backing him. As per the Indians polled in the Washington based Pew Global Research Centre survey, 33% people are confidence in Obama as compared to McCain(28%).
As per report, McCain is rated lower than Obama in every country. The survey also finds that US foreign policy “will change for the better†after the inauguration of a new American president. “Majorities in only three countries – Tanzania, Nigeria, and India – say they have a lot or some confidence in Bush to do the right thing in world affairs.â€
