Democrat Barack Obama increased USD 22 million in May for his presidential campaign, and ended the month with USD 43 million cash, whereas the former opposition Hillary Rodham Clinton has lots of debts.

Details of the candidates` May fundraising, filed in reports to the Federal Election Commission, came a day after Obama released he would become the first major party candidate to refrain public money in the General Election. McCain said that he would not deny the public funds, which will stop him to spend about USD 85 million from September until Election Day in November.

McCain elevated USD 21 million in May and ended the month with USD 31.6 million in the bank. Of Obama`s cash on hand, USD 10 million can be used only for the general election, limiting him with about USD 33 million to avail between now and the party conventions in late summer.

Clinton stated a USD 22.5 million debt at the end of May, more than half of which turned up from personal loans to her presidential campaign. Obama was going to develop his delegate advantage. He safeguarded the nomination June 3, successful with the day’s Montana primary but failing to Clinton in South Dakota. Obama`s decision to leave public fund in the general election gives higher importance to his work to capitalize on Clinton’s support for the general election.

First Clinton requires substantial help to remove her debt. Many of her loyal donors have already given the maximum to her campaign, so she requires some new sources of money. That`s where Obama turns up — his donors help her out or vice versa.
