T-Mobile: Launch first Google-powered mobile

T-Mobile said that it plans to launch a mobile phone powered by Google’s Android software, making it the first operator to do so and posing a direct threat to Apple’s popular iPhone.

A spokesman for Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile’s German parent, declined to comment on the launch date for the device which is made by mobile phone maker HTC.

Sources said that the phone will hit the stores in the United States before Christmas, perhaps as early as October.

Google solved Gmail access problems

Google Inc said that they solved an issue with its contacts system that caused many users of its Gmail service to have trouble accessing their online e-mail.

The problems began at about 5 p.m. EDT and an announcement on the company’s Gmail “Help Center” site said the issue is now resolved.

Google said an outage in the contacts system used by Gmail prevented the e-mail system from loading properly. Google also said that there may be minor delays in deliveries even though all mail is safe.

Google launched free music service in China

Google Inc has launched a music search service in China that will give users access to free downloads of licenced songs, while capturing advertising revenue for music providers in a market rife with piracy.

Google said that its service would initially let Internet users search tens of thousands of Chinese songs by singer or song title on its website and download them from Top100.cn, a Chinese music website co-founded by basketball star Yao Ming.

Advertising revenue from the service will be shared among Top100.cn and its music partners.

Google faces ‘Street View block’

Google is planning to launch a mapping tool as the Information Commissioner in the UK.

Simon Davis from the group of Privacy International, a UK rights group, said that this technology does not favor data protection laws, and in their view they need a person’s permit if they make use of a person’s face for commercial purposes.

Street View has already been launched in the US. It includes photos of streets in major American cities, photographing of areas in the UK including London. But some people in the US have complained against it that their images being used and Google has removed their presence on request. Continue reading…

Yahoo planning reorganization

Sources said, Yahoo Inc is considering a reorganization to centralize its mail, search and homepage divisions into a global product organization,

President Sue Decker said that its time to improve coordination between product and global sales groups.

The move comes as Yahoo, which has ended talks for a tie-up with Microsoft Corp in favor of a search deal with Google Inc, tries to convince investors it will substantially improve its business.

Yahoo-Google agree online ad deal

Yahoo has agreed a deal with Google which will see Yahoo use the search engine giant’s advertising technology. As per the agreement, Google ads will appear alongside some Yahoo search results in the US and Canada.

The announcement came after Yahoo said it had failed to persuade Microsoft to renew its bid to buy all of the internet company.

Yahoo said the agreement with Google could be worth up to $800m (£410m) in additional revenue every year.

With this agreement, now yahoo delivers more ads to users and provides advertisers and publishers with better advertising technology.

YouTube suit called threat to online communication

YouTube owner Google Inc said that a $1 billion copyright infringement are challenging its ability to keep copyrighted material off in its reputed video sharing website that threatens how billions of people share all kinds of information on the Internet.

The lawyer of Google made the assertions in documents filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan as the company replied to Viacom Inc.’s recent lawsuit and citing that the Internet has resulted in to ”an explosion of copyright infringement” by YouTube and others.

Since Viacom has brought its lawsuit last year and said that it was owed losses for the unauthorized viewing of its programming from the channels like MTV, Comedy Central and other networks, and the hits like “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” Continue reading…
