Active lifestyle may prevent cancer

As per latest research by Japanese that physically active people are less likely than sedentary types to develop cancer.

As per study, active group of people surveyed had 13% less risk of developing cancer as compared with least active group. And active group of women had a 16% lower risk than their sedentary counterparts.

Section Chief of the National Cancer Centre Dr. Manami said, “There has been a lot of research done in the past on the relationship between leisure and development of cancer in the West,”

New way to test for Diabetes Risk

A U.S. study published that the protein produced in the liver may give doctors a way to foresee years in advance that is at great risk for the common type of diabetes.

Examined people in their 70s, the researchers found those with high quantity of protein is called as fetuin-A were far more expected than those with low levels to obtain type 2 diabetes over six years. Fetuin-A is produced by liver cells and may be combined in the metabolism of the sugar glucose and calcium. . Type 2 diabetes is marked by high levels of glucose, the body’s source of energy in the blood.

Dr. Yoshinori Masuo of the National Institute of Industrial Science in Japan carried out tests on sleep-starved rats, and found the aroma-boosted genes that produce chemicals in the brain to fight fatigue and sleep deprivation.

He said that the aroma of coffee also boosted genes that control anxiety.

Gender equality’ of lung cancer

Women who smoke are no more likely to develop lung cancer than men, US researchers have concluded. There had been conflicting evidence on women’s risk, but the National Cancer Institute study of over 450,000 people found no gender difference.

Lancet Oncology found a difference of only 0.9% between the risk of men and that for women. The most recent research in UK said, that in 2006 23% of men and 21% of women were cigarette smokers. Near around 30,000 people dead in a year in the UK.

The researchers analysed data on smoking habits, diet, exercise and alcohol use for 279,214 men and 184,623 women aged between 50 and 71 living in eight US states.

Danish and US researchers said that they have found a new way to attack malaria by striking out a gene that helps malaria parasites rebirth inside mosquitoes. The researchers claimed that the gene enables the parasite to produce an egg-like structure called an oocyst, which produce new infectious parasites.
