Poll: McCain pulls ahead of Obama

In a New Poll showed, John McCain has pulled up a five-point lead over Barack Obama in the race for the US presidency

According to the latest poll released, McCain 71, now leads Senator Obama by a 46 per cent to 41 per cent margin.

John Zogby, President of Zogby International said, “Since Obama returned from his overseas trip, it seems like McCain has thrown all the punches. Clearly, the blows have landed,”

The poll showed that McCain not only enjoys a five-point edge in a two-way race against Obama, but also in a four-way contest including liberal independent candidate Ralph Nader and Libertarian Bob Barr.

McCain meets with Dalai Lama

John McCain has called on China to release Tibetan prisoners as he met with the Dalai Lama.

McCain said, after a 45-minute meeting yesterday with the Dalai Lama, the Beijing Olympic Games in August provide an opportunity for China to demonstrate it recognises human rights.

He also said the Dalai Lama is merely seeking basic rights to preserve Tibetan culture, language and religion.

He added, ”That’s why I’m so disappointed by repeated statements by Chinese officials that ascribe to the Dalai Lama views and actions divorced from what he actually represents. Such rhetoric doesn’t serve a cause of peaceful change and reconciliation,”

Mccain praises rival before pro-Obama crowd

U.S. Republican presidential hopeful John McCain appreciated Democratic opposition Barack Obama before a meeting attended by pro-Obama folks. He was giving speech at the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, Cincinnati, Ohio.

The various NAACP members are African-Americans, who are giving maximum support to Obama, an African-American. President George W. Bush has just got 11 percent of the black vote.

McCain stated, “Don’t tell him about my wordings, but he is an amazing fellow in various manner. He has influenced several Americans and some of them had wrongly thought that a political campaign could be of no use to them.

Obama, McCain set to duel over economy

The US Presidential candidates will duel over the economy this week, with Republican Senator John McCain touting proposals he says will stimulate job growth and Democratic Senator Barack Obama discussing economic security for families.

McCain, an Arizona Senator who has wrapped up his party’s nomination, will embark on a tour of Colorado, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin — all toss-up states in the November election to win the White House.

Senator Barack Obama has started a two-week assault on the economic policies of Senator John McCain and shifted to focus on the weakening economy as the main theme of the general election campaign. Obama said that presidency of Mc Cain would be a continuation of President Bush‘s trembling economic policies. He marked his own proposals to help besieged Americans financially: reduce tax rates for middle income families and retirees, a $50 billion economic package, raise of unemployment advantage, and relief for homeowners experiencing foreclosure.

The speech was in North Carolina that has supported the Republican presidential candidates but it has a huge black population, and he will be flown to Florida, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Ohio to stress the economic theme.

Obama accuses McCain of `losing his bearings`

obama.jpgDemocratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Thursday that Republican John McCain was “losing his bearings” for repeatedly suggesting the Islamic terrorist group Hamas preferred Obama for president.That brought an angry response from McCain’s campaign, which accused Obama of trying to make an issue of McCain’s age.Age is a touchy subject for McCain, who turns 72 in August and would be the oldest person to be sworn in as president if elected.
