Pakistani army fire at US choppers

Local officer said that Pakistani security forces opened fire at two US helicopter gunships which violated Pakistani airspace in a rugged tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
They said that the incident happened late on Sunday near Lwara Mundi village in the North Waziristan district, where Pakistani forces have been battling Taliban and al Qaeda militants.
A local official security said, “Pakistani forces fired at two US gunships which violated Pakistan’s airspace and forced them to return to Afghanistan,”

Iraqis trained in Iran for assassination back in country

US military has revealed that Iraqi Shi’ite fighters trained inside Iran to conduct assassinations have started coming back.
Sources said, US military spokesman has mentioned about some apparent indications of the return of some special group to Iraq.
US military spokesman said that the assassination of important Iraqi government and security officials could be the task of the ‘special group’
Revealing more on the training module of the group’s militiamen, the spokesman said that those were given four-month training on subjects such as sniper techniques, small arms and weapons training, terrorist cell operations, reconnaissance, improvised explosive devices and rocket-propelled grenades. US army giving training to Iraqi women

According to Sources, now US troops have begun training a first batch of Iraqi women spies to work alongside US-led forces in the violence-hit country.
The US military said in a statement that US intelligence specialists addressed Iraqi women who formed the first class to undergo the Basic Military Intelligence Course.

Pakistan warned US for entering in pakistan border

For 7 years India has been tempted but, quite rightly, refused to cross the Pakistan line of control to attack terrorist’s base camps.
But now America is doing just that by going into Pakistani territory and finishes all terrorists’ camps on the Pak-Afghan border.
After this Pakistan has warned America that it will shoot to kill any US troops that enter Pakistani territory. The military has told its field commanders to take action if US troops launch a similar raid. Continue reading…

US troops first ground attack in Pakistan

Intelligence officials said, at least 15 people, including women and children, were killed in an attack involving US-led forces in a remote Pakistani village near the border with Afghanistan.
The US-led coalition in Afghanistan said it had no report of such an incursion, said to have happened in the militant-infested south Waziristan tribal region. Pakistan’s Army confirmed an attack but did not specify if it believed foreign troops were involved.
Both the countries, have had tensions over cross-border attacks. In one high-profile incident earlier this year, Pakistan said 11 of its soldiers died when US aircraft bombed their border post.

US troops: Hand over Anbar province`s security to Iraqis

A spokesman for the Iraqi forces said that the forces have finalised their preparations to take over responsibility for security in the western Anbar province
Mohamed al-Askary said, “US forces will transfer security tasks to Iraqi forces at the beginning of next month (Sep 1) during official ceremonies and military parades,”
According to sources that Anbar’s security transfer was initially scheduled to take place at the end of June, but due to some problem or disputes among local politicians delayed the process.

Obama says victory is must in Afghanistan

Barack Obama said that his trip to Afghanistan showed him that the United States needs to send more troops and that the world must “finish the job” in defeating the Taliban.
Obama said that America needs to send at least two additional brigades to Afghanistan, and he asked for a greater commitment from NATO allies.
He says it is “a war we have to win.”

A female Suicide bomber kills at least 8 US-allied fighters in Iraq

Police said, a female suicide bomber blew herself up as she approached US-allied Sunni fighters walking in a crowded area north of Baghdad. Near Around 8 members of the group and wounding 24 other people.
The woman, who was shrouded in a traditional black Islamic robe, detonated her explosives belt at about 8:30 pm (local time) as she approached the group of awakening council guards in the central New Baqouba area, a police officer said.
The US military in northern Iraq said troops were investigating the bombing and it could not immediately confirm the attacker was a woman.

US military deaths in Iraq war at 4,124

As per of latest report, till July 20, 2008, at least 4,124 members of the U.S. military have died in the Iraq war since it began in March 2003.
The figure includes eight military civilians killed in action. At least 3,360 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military’s numbers.
The British military has reported 176 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 21; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, seven; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Latvia and Georgia, three each; Estonia, Netherlands, Thailand, Romania, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, South Korea, one death each.

Iraq takes control of Shiite province from US-led forces

Iraq took control of security in the Shiite province of Diwaniyah on Wednesday and said it aimed to regain control of the entire country from US-led forces by end of the year.
Sheikh Khalid al-Attiya parliament speaker said, “We are receiving the security file of Diwniyah,”
He said, “This day represents a bright page in a series of achievements that show the ability and the strength of the Iraq forces.”
Diwaniyah, formerly known as Qadisiyah, is the 10th province to be handed over to Iraqi security control amid a fall in violence nationwide.
