Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi himself has put an end to speculation on his becoming Prime Minister in the immediate future. However, the 38-year-old scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family did not comment on the endorsements from within the Congress and some of its allies in the United Progressive Alliance on his candidature for the Prime Minister post.He expressed displeasure at the use of the word ‘yuvraj’ to describe him. Terming it “insulting†in a country like India which had a democratic set-up, Mr. Gandhi said: “This word has no meaning today”.
Rahul Gandhi also sent a signal to UP CM Mayawati, she had talked about Rahul Gandhi using a special soap after visiting Dalit homes in UP. This is what he said.
“Does it look like that I use a special soap but what I would like to say is that I will continue to listen to people and their sufferings,” said Rahul.
During his two-day tour Rahul walked in the tribal areas plagued by poverty and Naxal threat. He took inputs from people on what ails his party.
